About

What defines our beer beyond water, barley, hops and yeast? To us, the term 'Good Times' represents the adventures we experience, the challenges we face, and company we keep. Good Times Brewing was born of all these things, and we hope to share them in every pour of our beer.

In 2014, a seed was planted in the depths of a small-town brick oven pizza shop in Greenwood, SC. By fall of that year, a sprout in the form of a 3-barrel brewery appeared in the back of The Mill House. As we taught ourselves to brew to scale in our backyard, we improved and expanded our lineup and began distribution in upstate South Carolina with the help of Anderson's Carolina Beer Company. By 2016, demand for our own facility could not be ignored. So we packed our roots and moved in right next door to our childhood best friends at The Mill House and construction of our 10bbl brewhouse and taproom was underway. By spring of 2018 we commissioned the brewhouse to serve all of our upstate market, and by late 2019 we were serving beer across the taproom bar in our new digs at Maxwell Station. January 22nd of 2020 marked the official opening of our new and constantly improving brewhouse, fully fun-ctioning taproom, the culinary wizardry that is our tapas and taqueria, and our beautiful overlook and upstairs venue space.

As we grow into the next phase of Good Times, it's our goal to continue the traditions that define who we are. Furthering the adventures of the beer and culinary experience, meeting the challenges to create them, and growing with the community around us. Let the enjoyable experiences keep churning!

Our Team

John Michael McCranie

Head Brewer

John Michael has been with our team since the early brewery days in 2015... Learning the ropes on our first 3bbl system and later graduating to our now 10bbl brewhouse in 2018. He loves his craft and is a stickler for the classics. He still loathes to be called a brewmaster, though we would argue he has long since reached the requisite 10,000 hours...

Josh Curry

General Manager

Since 2017 Josh and his family have grown into our community and built lasting relationships with our patrons. Originally from Aiken, Josh loves engaging with staff and customers alike, has an incredible reservoir of random sports knowledge, and currently writes volumes of jokes for the Dadabase that is often used to incite groans from the staff.

Gianpaolo Bonaca

Owner

Gianpaolo (also answers to 'GP' and 'Geep', and has been called worse) came from Columbia SC to attend Lander University. In 2001 he graduated from the school of Business, and decided to stay involved with product development in the horticulture industry. This somehow seemed to lead to projects varying from building growth chambers, to electrical contracting, to real estate investing with his partner Paul, among other things. Gianpaolo’s late father had always wanted to build a brick oven, so during the era of doing 15 projects at a time he decided to build a small oven in the back yard of his mill house in the Harris Mill Village. After many moons of teardowns, rebuilds and profanity, the oven finally ran smoothly and provided perfect pies for many gatherings. When the economy took a down turn in 2009, Gianpaolo and partner Paul decided it was time to stop flipping houses and start slinging pies. With the strong support of his wife Riley and their 2 boys, their families, the city of Greenwood, a dedicated staff and even more dedicated patrons… Gianpaolo and Paul have enjoyed a gracious experience in hospitality since 2010.

Paul Bartolomeo

Owner

Paul is a Washington DC area native who had spent time in the area until he permanently relocated to Hodges in 2004. Sticking with what he did best in DC, Paul started rehabilitating properties around Greenwood. With new challenges in a new market, Paul teamed up with a long time friend and SC native Gianpaolo, and together they decided to purchase properties to then improve and market the properties for sale or rent. The market downturn in 2009 forced a change in business plans, so Paul and his partner decided to take a leap of faith into the restaurant business. With a shell of a building in a quiet part of town they put their resources together to bring a new dining experience to Greenwood. Paul continues to have as much time on the floor as he can, though he is well known for his quiet personality (not really). Paul and Gianpaolo enjoy spending time with our community and our patrons… you can't miss Paul!
